History of The Company
Halifax Motorsports started as a hobby business for the owner Scott Redden and his wife Karlie Redden. Armed with nothing more than an $8000 limit Visa they both headed off to New England to buy two motorcycles in the fall of 2006. With a borrowed truck and a used two place snowmobile trailer, the company was officially started. Those two motorcycles sold before Christmas and back to the US they went this time to buy four motorcycles. Four turned into eight and eight turned into 16. At the full swing of the "hoppy business" Scott was selling 200-300 motorcycles/atv/snowmobiles/boats/pwc. The two would get off work Friday evening jump in the truck drive the 25 hours/2500km it took round trip to New Hampshire, load, travel, export and import the bikes to be home for Sunday night to go back to their full-time jobs Monday morning.
In 2009 they opened an account with Tucker Rocky a US-based distributor of powersports parts, accessories and apparel. Before long Scott and Karlie had customers trying gear on in the living room of their house and customers walking away happy with a new bag of gear. It soon proved that there was a need in the Halifax area for a new powersports business focused on customer service and powered by a passion for the sport. A small 900 square feet location became available at 818 Prospect Rd in the spring of 2011 (where the store still is today), Scott and his wife decided to rent it and move the part-time business there instead of having customers trying things on in the living room. The plan was to have Karlie watch the store and Scott to still work full time with his job in the communication industry.
The store opened full time in May 2011 and by June 1, 2011, Scott was putting in his resignation with his employer because the store just took off. With the first employee hired later that summer the business was off to the races. Five short years later, 6 staff including Karlie and Scott, 4 expansion renovations to grow the store from 900 square feet to 4200, Scott, Karlie and their great staff are still working hard to provide the best customer service, best customer experience, the most knowledgeable and friendly fun experts, fully stocked store and fair pricing to their growing list of satisfied customers.
